A PILOT PROJECT FOR A DINING VENUE IN THE FOOD HALL OF THE ICONIC ELEKTROWNIA POWIŚLE, A HISTORIC POWER PLANT BUILDING IN WARSAW. THE SPACE WAS DESIGNED FOR MR PANCAKE, A WELL-ESTABLISHED GASTRONOMIC BRAND KNOWN FOR ITS PLAYFUL TAKE ON FOOD CULTURE. THE COMPACT UNIT SERVES SMOODIES, MATCHA, AND PANCAKES.

AN EQUALLY IMPORTANT ASPECT WAS TAILORING THE PROJECT TO THE EXPECTATIONS OF A YOUNG AUDIENCE. IN RESPONSE TO THE STIMULATING, VISUALLY CHAOTIC SURROUNDINGS, WE OPTED FOR INTUITIVE SELF-ORDER KIOSKS AND A SIMPLE, MINIMALIST FORM BASED ON SMOOTH CONCRETE, STAINLESS STEEL, AND SUBTLE LED LIGHTING.

NUTRIPOD

A CONCEPT FOR A HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE DESIGNED FOR HYDROPONIC CULTIVATION OF EDIBLE PLANTS, CONCEIVED AS A MODULAR SYSTEM FOR INTEGRATION INTO KITCHEN FURNITURE. IN THE VISION OF THE YEAR 2050, IT BECOMES A STANDARD FEATURE OF THE DOMESTIC KITCHEN – ALONGSIDE THE DISHWASHER OR OVEN.

NUTRIPOD CONSISTS OF AN EXTERNAL HOUSING AND INTERNAL DRAWERS – NUTRIDRAWERS – WHICH HOLD SMALLER HYDROPONIC GROWING UNITS KNOWN AS NUTRIBOXES. THE APPLIANCE EMPLOYS ADVANCED SOLUTIONS, YET AUTOMATION IS LIMITED TO PROCESSES RESPONSIBLE FOR MONITORING PLANT HEALTH, MAINTAINING OPTIMAL GROWTH CONDITIONS, AND SYSTEM MAINTENANCE. STAGES SUCH AS PLANTING, TRANSPLANTING, OR HARVESTING REMAIN IN THE HANDS OF THE USER – EMPHASIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF HUMAN INVOLVEMENT IN THE CULTIVATION PROCESS.

 THE CONCEPT IS SPECULATIVE IN NATURE – ITS PURPOSE IS TO PROVOKE REFLECTION ON EVERYDAY LIFE IN 2050 AND HOW IT MAY EVOLVE IN THE FACE OF FORTHCOMING CHALLENGES. THE NARRATIVE IS BUILT AROUND DAILY RITUALS AND WELL-BEING – PRESENTING NUTRIPOD AS AN ELEMENT THAT REDEFINES THE FUNCTION OF THE KITCHEN AND RESTORES ITS STATUS AS THE HEART OF THE HOME.IT RECALLS THE SKILL OF PLANT CULTIVATION – ONCE ESSENTIAL FOR SURVIVAL, NOW NEARLY FORGOTTEN.
